Ingredients
For the Steak:
2 rested steaks (your cut of choice)
Lawry’s Seasoned Salt or garlic salt (or your favorite steak rub)
For the Fried Rice:
1–2 sausage links, chopped
2 eggs, scrambled
3 cups cooked white rice (preferably cold)
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
2 tbsp soy sauce (we used Momofuku Goods)
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
½ tsp MSG (optional, but recommended)
Chopped chives or green onions, for garnish
Instructions
Preheat the Griddle:
Fire up your HALO ELITE1B Griddle to its highest setting. Let it fully heat for a great sear.
Cook the Steaks:
- Season rested steaks generously on all sides and edges with Lawry’s or your favorite rub.
- Place steaks on the hot griddle. Press down firmly to ensure even surface contact.
- Flip every minute or so until desired doneness is reached. (130°F for medium rare)
- Remove from heat and rest for several minutes before slicing.
Make the Fried Rice:
- Add chopped sausage to the griddle. Cook until browned and crispy, then move to the side.
- Pour scrambled eggs onto the griddle. Cook through, then move aside with the sausage.
- Add sesame oil, then toss in the rice. Break up clumps and let it warm through.
- Add soy sauce and stir to combine evenly.
- Mix in frozen veggies, cooked eggs, and sausage. Season with MSG if using. Stir to combine.
Serve It Up:
Plate the fried rice hot, top with sliced steak, and finish with a sprinkle of fresh chives or green onions.
